IFA Professional Aromatherapy Diploma Course

Course Overview

The [IFA Professional Aromatherapy Diploma Course] is fully online. Upon completion of the course, students will take the international exam in Shanghai, and passing the exam will grant them the IFA International Aromatherapist Certification issued by IFA.

The learning process is divided into three stages:

• Stage 1: [Theory Course]

• Stage 2: [Case Studies & Thesis Course]

• Stage 3: [Review & Exam Preparation and Certification Exam]

The theoretical part of this course follows the original curriculum system created by Teacher Tammy Liu. The course content is professional, authoritative, comprehensive, and up-to-date, with an excellent reputation. This course covers theoretical knowledge explanations, practical massage guidance, case study and thesis guidance, and international certification exam preparation. Enrollment Requirements

Passion and Recognition: A love for nature, humility, eagerness to learn, a helpful attitude, and a full understanding of the nature, path, and methods of online learning.

Self-initiated Learning: Online courses are flexible. Throughout the long learning process, learners must be disciplined, effectively plan, and persist in studying all the course materials. Students must also have the ability to read quietly, think critically, and develop a research-oriented mindset.

Basic Computer Knowledge and Skills:

• Basic computer knowledge and operational skills, able to use Office document software proficiently.

• Most teaching documents are in PDF format, so the computer used for the course should be able to read or fill in PDF files.

• Must be able to send and receive emails comfortably and have a good internet environment. Knowledge of the web, able to browse webpages, view audiovisual lessons, and download documents proficiently.

• Must be able to use mobile apps such as WeChat, Tencent Meeting, etc.

Course Description

I. Theory Learning
This stage includes IFA Aromatherapy theoretical textbooks, audio-video course packages, live daily sessions, and teacher support and learning guidance within student groups. The theoretical study phase lasts five months, with specific timing announced in the group after registration. This phase includes:

• Explanation and study of aromatherapy theory and anatomy-physiology theory

• Study planning and teacher guidance

• Daily Q&A and aromatherapy knowledge sharing

Course Materials:

1. Aromatherapy Textbook
   Main content:

2. Anatomy and Physiology Textbook
   Explanation of the human systems (13 chapters in total, detailing the 9 major systems of the human body) and common diseases and their causes.

3. Massage Technique Course Materials
   Detailed explanation and demonstration of IFA-designated aromatherapy massage techniques.

II. Case Study and Thesis Writing Course

Case studies and thesis writing are necessary requirements for those wishing to take the IFA International Certification Exam. They are also crucial practical components following the completion of the theoretical course.
After completing the theoretical course and meeting the requirements, students can apply to enroll in the [Case Study and Thesis Writing] course.

Once enrolled in this stage, students may not request refunds or transfers, regardless of whether the course is completed. For the case study section, instructors will provide one-on-one online guidance.

• At least 6 months of practical aromatherapy with 65 case studies and completion of case study records.

• Two thesis papers on the topics of [Research in Aromatherapy-related Fields] and [Business Management].

This stage will include live sessions, case study guidance, daily group guidance, and Q&A, all aimed at helping students successfully complete this phase of the course.

III. Review, Exam Preparation, and Certification Exam

In this phase, instructors will lead students in review and exam preparation for the international certification exam.
Students who have valid IFA student membership and have completed the theoretical and case study courses at Joyce Liu Institute of Naturopathy & Natural Medicine are eligible to apply for the IFA International Aromatherapy Therapist Certification Exam.

According to IFA's Education Committee's requirements, IFA training schools must submit the list of students intending to take the international exam at least six months before the exam date.

The exam lasts two days and is held in Shanghai.

The content includes:

• Theoretical Exam: Covers [Anatomy and Physiology and Body Massage] and [Aromatherapy], with answers in Chinese.

• Practical Exam: Includes aromatherapy massage techniques, thesis and case study presentations, and an interview with the chief examiner.

After the exam, the theoretical papers will be submitted to IFA for grading, and results will be available approximately 60 business days later. If any subject is failed, students will need to pay to retake the exam during the next international exam session, with fees to be set by IFA.

Note: The exam fee is collected by Joyce Liu Institute of Naturopathy & Natural Medicine and forwarded to IFA. The fee does not include:
a. The annual membership fee for becoming an IFA official member after passing the exam;
b. Exam supplies;
c. Uniforms;
d. Accommodation and transportation fees.

According to IFA’s current regulations, if a student has paid for the IFA International Diploma Exam but fails to attend for any reason, it will be considered as voluntarily forfeiting the exam, and no refund will be given.

Students with a Bachelor's degree or higher in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Western medicine, or nursing (including undergraduate) and who have passed the self-assessment in the basic anatomy and physiology section of the course may be exempt from the [Anatomy and Physiology] theoretical exam; however, the exam fee remains the same.

During the preparation period, Joyce Liu Institute of Naturopathy & Natural Medicine will provide full support, follow-up, and simulation services to help students achieve excellent results.

Certificate and Membership

After passing the IFA International Aromatherapy Therapist Certification Exam & becoming an IFA Overseas Official Member (OVM)

Upon passing both the theoretical and technical exam, students will receive the [Theoretical Subject] and [Technical Subject] exam results and certificates.

After passing the certification exam, students can apply to become an IFA Overseas Official Member (MIFA/OVM), pay the annual membership fee directly to IFA, and be listed in the global IFA directory of [Aromatherapy Therapists]. Membership is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.

Important Notice

After completing the full aromatherapy course, if you wish to participate in the IFA International Aromatherapy Therapist Certification Exam and become an IFA-recognized aromatherapy therapist, you must apply for IFA student membership at the beginning of your studies.
